And now, after comprehensive review, we’re revealing the most approved-of CEOs around the world and are issuing 1,000 awards to these beloved bosses.
Earning a 2017 Owler Top Rated CEO Award is certainly no easy feat, and for all you winners out there: you should be incredibly proud of this accomplishment. Out of the 167,000 CEOs listed on Owler.com, you’re of of the 0.60 percent who earned an award—putting your company at the pinnacle of business leadership.

Out of the 1,000 awards, here are some the stand-out recipients.
Much to everyone’s surprise, in 2015, Google reorganized their entire business under a new umbrella organization, marking the birth of the now multi-billion-dollar-conglomerate, Alphabet. Now, a year and a half later, Alphabet is the well-known parent company of all things Google. And the Owler Community is recognizing their leadership as top tier as well: Larry Page, co-founder of both Google and Alphabet scored a robust 98.4 points.
This five-year-old web analytics platform is based out of San Francisco and is helping businesses better understand their users. Last summer, they made a splash last fall when they raised another $15M in funding, allowing them to further their mission of making data visible to all employees at a company. Not to mention, we here at Owler are big fans of their platform. And Spenser Skates, the CEO of this small company is making it big on Owler, scoring a solid 85.4 point rating.
While making the list of 2017 Owler Top Rated CEO is impressive for anyone, it’s particularly so for an airline. While other airlines are making the news for poor customer service (to put it lightly), the CEO of their Dutch counterpart is is among the most beloved by the Owler Community. Their CEO Pieter Elbers scored a 97.5 point-rating, making him the most well-liked leaders in the airline industry.
In a time when in-store retail is struggling, Stitch Fix is proving that there is still fashion to be sold and money to be made. This online personal stylist took the fashion industry by storm this year. According to financial figures shared by the company itself, the six-year-old company posted $730 million in sales for the fiscal year that ended in July, helping it break into the highly coveted ranks of profitability. And with good financials come good CEO ratings: Katrina Lake’s scored a strong 96.1 points with the Owler Community.
No matter where you work, healthcare has been a hot topic as of late. After all, everyone needs it at some point. The nonprofit healthcare organization is renowned around the US for its exceptional service and is pushing the envelope in terms of diversity and LGBTQ care. Earlier this year, CEO Bernard J. Tyson earned a spot on Time’s list of 100 most influential people. Now, with a 97.2 rating from the Owler Community, he can add a 2017 Top Rated CEO Award to his list of accomplishments.
Biotech is nothing new, and 41-year-old Genentech proves that you don’t have to be fresh-out-of-the-incubator to be at the top of the game. After four decades, the San Francisco-based company is still innovating. In June, they’re set to present new data on personalized medicines and immunotherapies. It takes talented leadership to keep a biotech giant like Genentech at the forefront of its field, which is why it’s no surprise that the Owler Community scored CEO Bill Anderson at a healthy 87.7 points.
The prospect of learning a new language can seem overwhelming. But by breaking it down into bit sized chunks, Duolingo allows users to educate themselves during their morning commute, evening downtime, or other spare minutes. Plus, it’s totally free, allowing people to pick up a new tongue, no matter their price point. It seems that Professor Luis von Ahn’s mission to provide free education is going over well, earning him a 90.3 rating from the Owler Community.
