Rob says, “Owler is a major part of my virtual daily routine, which is beneficial for any CEO because the data is very, very current. It’s relevant and it’s delivered in bite-sized pieces so you can get what you need quickly.” Rob frequently recommends Owler to other executives, as he finds Owler, “a very high value tool for virtually any organization that wants to keep a pulse on their customers, prospects, and competitive environment.”
Used Across Coupa
Rob explains how the rest of his organization, roughly half of Coupa’s 700 employees, use Owler. Coupa’s sales team follows their prospects so they know what’s relevant when they’re calling and engaging them. Coupa’s service team monitors current customers, keeping tabs on the latest news and events.
“Often,” says Rob, “Our service team will be the first to let our customers know about something going on in their own organization, before they would know it themselves! This is because of Owler.”
Proactive Approach to Customer Management
Rob offers a great example where Owler allowed him and his team to proactively reach out to a client regarding a shift in ownership saying, “The other day on Owler, I saw that one of our existing customers was actually purchased by a much larger organization, one where we have an existing sales cycle. I was able to immediately email my salesperson who’s working that larger account. Funny enough, he already knew that information—from Owler.” Rob said he believes having this information immediately will help Coupa grow that client relationship.

“One of the most interesting things about Owler,” says Rob, “Is the community of people involved in providing the latest information from wherever they are: Their best sense of how big a company is.
