This month, we’re excited to announce the addition of several shiny new innovations from Team Owler, all intended to help you get a better understanding of any company. We’ve added Head-to-Head company comparisons, new Opinion Poll questions, Company Scores, and Owler Insights on Company Scores.

Now, we’re introducing a new way to rate companies. With our Head-to-Head Comparisons, Owler users compare two companies and choose the winner in categories like marketing, company culture culture, and innovation. It’s your chance to rate how companies fare against their fiercest competitors (as populated by our Competitive Graph). These new questions complement our existing Opinion Poll questions, where users rate company metrics as positive, neutral, or negative.
For instance, if you’re looking over Strava’s Company profile, we’ll serve questions comparing the fitness tracker to other similar applications. And once you submit your Opinion Poll response, we’ll show you a side-by-side score comparison, so you can see whether the Owler Community agrees.
And poof! We reveal is Strava’s Brand Score. (We recently expanded our CEO scores to other business metrics—more on that later in this post.) As you can see, Strava’s beating out RunKeeper on their Brand Score: at 94 points out of 100, perception of their brand is in the top 25 percent of companies on Owler.
Answers to these Head-to-Head questions inform a business’s cumulative score, helping us fine-tune our numbers.
New Opinion Poll Questions

We know that a company is made up of many different facets, and each business has its unique strengths and weaknesses. That’s why we’ve added more ways to rate and understand an organization with new Opinion Poll questions. Each question helps us address a different, specific aspect of a company, ultimately allowing us to paint a complete picture when it comes to any business on our platform.
And since no two businesses are alike, you’ll find that some companies earn similar ratings across the board, while others have varying strengths and weaknesses depending on the category.
We’ve introduced 11 new Opinion Poll questions, including:

- Mission Score
- Business Model Score
- Business Ethics Score
- Community Service Score
- Leadership Diversity Score
- Trust Score
- Risk Score
- Payment Score
- Work-Life Balance Score
- Leadership Score
These new Opinion Poll questions add to our 17 existing Opinion Poll questions on Owler.
Right now, the Leadership Diversity Score is the most difficult metric for companies to crack, with an average rating of 62.2. According to the Owler Community, organizations that top the list in this area include USPS (85 points), Nielsen (82 points), and Salesforce (81 points).Similarly difficult is the Work-Life Balance Score, with an average rating of 67.1 points. Currently, the companies leading this category are Costco (87 points), Genentech (84 points), and Delta Airlines (84 points).One of our most popular Opinion Poll is the Brand Score, which measures the Owler Community’s perception of a business’s brand, and averages at 73.9 points across our platform. Some of the most beloved brands include Costco (95 points), SpaceX (93 points), and Marriott (95 points).

We’ve expanded our original CEO rating system above and beyond into over two dozen new categories. With 1 million active users on our platform, it’s the only measurement of true market perception in the eyes of employees, competitors, and the general business community. And so far, the Owler Community seems to be taking to these new Opinion Poll questions: they’ve submitted over 730,000 ratings already.
So, how can you find out a Company Score? When you contribute your opinion on a topic, we’ll reveal the score as a token of our appreciation. We also display Company Scores in the Daily Snapshot presented via Owler Insights.
Owler Insights on Company Scores
Track changes in company scores via Owler Insights, sent every morning in the Daily Snapshot.
As time progresses and things happen, scores change. For instance, when Taylor Swift announced that she’d made peace with streaming services, Stockholm-based Spotify saw a corresponding bump in their Leadership Team Score. When scores change for the companies you follow, you’ll get the news about those fluctuations as Owler Insights in your Daily Snapshot, so you can always stay on top of recent market movements. Whether a company’s score goes up, down, or surpasses that of their competitor, we’ll make sure that you hear about it.
