We were fortunate to host Dhruv Gupta last summer as an intern while he was still an MBA candidate at Stanford University. Luckily for us (again!), Dhruv has finished his MBA and, after a few weeks traveling and getting settled in San Francisco, he is back as an official full-time employee of Owler!
Dhruv did amazing work for us as an intern, hammering out the initial specs for numerous projects including the industry and sectors in our company profiles and Owler Alerts, not to mention his analysis of dozens of additional news sources for our publisher reach. Now he joins us as a Product Manager, focusing on email, widgets, and all ongoing external distribution.
And here’s a little more about Dhruv in his words:
Tell us more about your background and what you’ll be doing at Owler:
I am from India where I spent my first 18 years. My undergrad was in the UK at Nottingham University after which I came back to India. I worked at Ernst & Young as a strategy consultant for 2 years, after leading Digital Media Strategy at Jagran Prakashan Ltd. one of India’s leading media organizations. After Jagran I came to the US for my MBA at the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
At Owler I will be working as a Product Manager for all external distribution which includes our three email products: Snapshot, Special Reports, Competitor Intelligence Reports, and also our new widgets product.
What made you want to join Owler?
One of the questions for the Stanford GSB application is ‘What matters most to you?’. For me it’s empowering people with trusted information. Owler’s mission of empowering professionals and businesses with competitive intelligence fits well with mine and allows me to work on a product that will impact millions of professionals and help them do their job better. After having worked here over the summer I loved the team, culture, responsibility and the challenge of really organizing the world’s business information.
What are you most excited about at Owler?
I am excited to be a part of a great team and help create a product that empowers business professionals and makes a big impact in the industry. Specifically I am excited to help create the best business information email product and a platform where users trust and use our data to improve business decisions.
You’ve lived in a lot of places internationally; what do you like about the SF area?
As a foodie, wine, and whiskey fan I love SF and the surrounding area. SF has some of the best whiskey bars (like Bourbon and Branch) and restaurants (like Kokkari and Bar Tartine) that I have ever been to. I love that I am now little bit closer to Sonoma! Also I really enjoy the healthy food and living culture of this area.
We are thrilled to welcome Dhruv back and have him onboard the team full-time! And we suspect Dhruv may remember this, but we may have a wee bit in common with him in regards to food, wine, and whiskey. We all look forward to him treating us all to Bar Tartine and Bourbon and Branch now that he’s no longer an intern! 🙂
