How do I sign up to receive your Daily Snapshot newsletter?
Registering for Owler is very easy and 100% free – simply go to www.owler.com and start by searching for your company or simply follow buttons to ‘Sign Up’. You’ll shortly see another pop up where you can enter your email address and confirm your employer to gain full access to the website and start receiving daily news updates on your company and the companies you care about. Be sure to customize the companies you care about by going to your portfolio (Owler.com > Menu > My Portfolio) and adding or unfollowing (hit the star to unfollow) any company. Changes will be reflected on your Dashboard and in your daily emails pretty much immediately.
Why should I go through onboarding?
Completing the 1 min onboarding (just asking for your email address and employer) will ensure that you’re set up to receive the best value. For example, if you work at Company X we can immediately put together a good Daily Snapshot of who your competitors are and the type of news you are likely to be most interested in. You can always customize the list of companies we have you following, but this is the quickest way to ‘set it and forget it.’ Providing your email address allows us send your those valuable emails. Without these, you are reliant on visiting Owler.com get your information. One other note…we will never sell your email address to any third parties and you will remain anonymous in our system should you elect to.
Why should I follow companies?
We send you reports and intelligence primarily based on the companies that you’re following. In order to experience the full power of our platform, it is best to follow your competitors and clients for most people. We also recommend following all companies in your space, like vendors and prospects. This way you’ll get updates on the totality of your business sector.
What companies should I follow?
Our reports are specifically oriented towards providing you competitive analyses. Therefore, we recommend that you follow your competitors. Owler is also a robust tool for tracking your clients and your clients’ competitors. If you are in sales, following your prospects is a must and will expand your knowledge about their business. Some members find it useful to track partners, vendors or other companies with whom they have relationships. Owler can also be a good way to stay updated on your idol companies, or companies you admire. Really, any company you want to know about is a great company to track on Owler!
How does Owler rank competitors?
We rank competitors based on feedback from internal algorithms as well as crowdsourced inputs. Who you rank as your top competitors gets added to the mix, as does who companies are telling us are or aren’t competitors on their company profiles. We also have a bunch of sophisticated algorithms crunching some data to come up with the rank. If we are off on anything, please let us know and we’ll fix it so the whole community can benefit (email@example.com).
