The purpose of Owler is to make you smarter about your business environment. Last week we launched a feature that will help make us smarter about you.
The purpose of this new product is for us to improve your experience with Owler, and continue tailoring it to you and your interests.
When new members join Owler they are walked through a simple, four-step onboarding program. The program asks new members to tell us where they work, in what kind of role and specific companies that they identify as their competitors.
We will use this information to customize each members’ experience with Owler products. For instance, knowing what company a member works for allows us to customize what news, CEO approval rating, polls or suggested companies to show him. Similarly, knowing what companies a member considers her competitors informs us when to send alerts about acquisitions, funding, expanded employee-headcount or other types of news. Knowing a member’s role-type also helps us decipher if we should send them news about trends in a marketing space versus sales or finance.
We hope to expand this customized offering to previously-registered members, too. In the coming weeks we will be launching a program to walk existing members through this onboarding experience. Again, it is our hope this new feature will empower us to better serve our members with information that is of higher value based on each members’ preferences.
