Starting this year, Owler is recognizing the top rated CEOs on our business insights platform. Awardees are chosen according to ratings by the Owler Community, which is comprised of over 1 million active business professionals across a multitude of roles and industries.
Who can win a 2017 Owler Top Rated CEO Award?
At the outset, CEOs across the cities with the densest company populations, and industries with the most companies are eligible to win a Top Rated CEO Award. But once the rating period has ended, CEOs must:
- Have 10 or more total votes on Owler
- Be rated higher than 80 points
- Be in the top 5, 10, 20, 25, 50, or 100 CEOs chosen in their category
How do you determine the winners of the 2017 Owler Top Rated CEO Awards?
All Owler awardees are chosen by the Owler Community. We base our picks on insights and contributions from the over 1 million active business professionals who share their thoughts and opinions on Owler. This year alone, Owler Community members have contributed over a quarter million CEO ratings.
Out of the 167,000 CEOs on Owler, we’ll be distributing 1,000 awards to the top CEOs, meaning that only the créme de la créme of corporate commanders—the top 0.60 percent—will make the cut.
How do I nominate a company for 2017 Owler Top Rated CEO Awards?
You can’t nominate a company in the traditional sense, but by rating a CEO and encouraging your team to rate them as well, you’ll be advancing your company (and CEO) toward an award.
To submit your rating, you can go to one of several pages on our site.
- Company Profile.
- You can simply click “weigh in” next to a CEO’s rating.
- You’ll see a series of Data Cards, each asking for your opinion of various aspects of that company. Among those Data Cards, you’ll notice one asking you to rate the CEO. Simply click one of the faces to submit your vote.
- Event Page, where you’ll also see a series of Data Cards.
- Daily Snapshot, Owler’s daily news update, which features a Data Card each and every morning.
Who can vote for a CEO?
Employees, followers, competitors, and general Owler users. Over 90 percent of contributions come from people close to a company.
When is the deadline to vote?
We’ll be tallying all ratings submitted before May 12th.
When do you announce winners of the 2017 Owler Top Rated CEO Awards?
We’ll reveal the top rated CEOs during the week of May 16th. If your company wins, we’ll notify key members of your team via email to inform you of your new status as an Owler Awardee.

How are the top level award categories defined?
Overall: All winners across all categories. The highest ranked CEO with the largest number of votes will rank #1. If any two CEOs have the exact same rating, the leader with more votes will rank higher.
